Typology of B2B buildings

LOGISTIC WAREHOUSES

Industrial building intended for the storage of goods, a warehouse is called "traditional" when the pallets are handled by men

General characteristics of this warehouse: Pallets housed in 10 to 12 meters high racks, An optimal depth of 80 to 110 meters, One to two docks per 1000 m2 of warehouse space. This ratio depends on the frequency of stock rotation planned by the logistics operator.

CROSSDOCKING & LAST MILE (E-COMMERCE)

This is a transit building. The goods are not stored but transshipped between two vehicles and transit from the entry dock to the shipping dock in a few hours. Characteristics of cross-docking buildings: Extended buildings, Numerous loading docks, Simultaneous transfer of goods between many vehicles.

Grouping logic allows: A better management of the routing, Optimized truck loading, Improved transport resources
Characteristics of “Last Mile” buildings (or “Last Mile”) buildings used by E-COMMERCE intra-urban or peripheral building, close to the consumer allows capillary distribution in an urban environment, whether B2B or B2C. Allows the transfer of goods from a semi-trailer to smaller vehicles

REFRIGERATED BUILDINGS

Designed for products stored at controlled temperatures,

they can be of “storage” or “cross-docking” type. These refrigerated buildings are distinguished by the temperature: positive refrigeration (for “fresh” products requiring refrigeration), negative refrigeration for frozen products.

AUTOMATED BUILDINGS

What is it? Automated handling and identification systems for goods.

Goods identified by stacker cranes for pallets in high-rise silos or with smaller containers stored in “mini-loads”. Can integrate a “cross-docking” or “last mile” function with automatic transhipment management.

This is an industrial processing or production activity with specific requirements for housing the production process.
